The Meide Drive Detention Basin project in New Albany was the 3rd project funded by the storm water bond. This new basin upstream of Daisy Lane will provide 6.1 acres of detention storage from a drainage area of 191 acres. This basin will help lower flood elevations, which in turn means less severe flooding along Falling Run creek. It was completed Nov 2014 at a cost of $330,000.
In the Spring of this year a drainage improvement project is scheduled to start on 15th street. A new 60” storm line will replace a 36” brick pipe running from 15th & Elm to 15th & Beeler. This is the first phase of a project which encompasses an area bounded by 13th street and Vincennes, Spring and Beeler. This project is to relieve flooding issues which have persisted in this area for years. More updates to come as the project gets underway. An estimated cost of this project will be $2.4 ml.
