City Façade Grant Program
Local downtown businesses and property owners have an extraordinary opportunity for those located within the Downtown Historic District thanks to a generous donation to the City of New Albany. The City is offering a matching grant to help reinvigorate downtown historic buildings and take them back to their original historic look, improving both the charm and character of our area.
These grants are available on a reimbursement basis with the City grant covering 75% of the cost and the building owner committing to 25%. Due to established prerequisites, the building must be located within the Downtown Historic District (see attached map) and only projects started after 6/1/17 are eligible.
Eligible projects include exterior painting or cleaning, historic restoration, awnings, gutters and replacement of windows. At this time, roof and sidewalk repairs are not eligible for the matching grant. To apply you must fill out an application and provide all requested documentation. The City is having a public meeting on September 5, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the New Albany-Floyd County Building, 311 Hauss Square, 3rd Floor Assembly Room, Rm. 331, New Albany, IN 47150.
