Parks and Recreation – Board
Open to the public, the Parks Department Board meets on the second Thursday of the month at the New Albany Parks and Recreation headquarters located at 2043 Silver Street. Please feel free to join us with comments, questions, concerns, and ideas.

Steve Sipes – President
Steve is a native having been born and raised in New Albany.  A lifelong resident, he graduated from New Albany High School (’67), Indiana University (BS Ed “71), Indiana University Southeast (MS Ed. “75), and Indiana University (EDS  ’86).  He taught and coached at Hazelwood Junior High School  for 14 years before becoming assistant principal and later principal at New Albany High School, retiring in 2009.   He is married to Connie Weigleb Sipes and they have 2 children, Casses and Zachary,  along with 5 grandchildren.  Presently, he is an assistant baseball coach at Corydon Central High School.  Activities and hobbies include physical fitness, babysitting, politics and a lot of “fix-it” projects. He is excited about the opportunity to work with the citizens of New Albany to revitalize our parks and recreation opportunities.

Chad Hunter
Chad is a native of New Albany, IN and graduate of New Albany High School, where he was a varsity basketball player from 1994 to 1997, an Indiana Basketball All-Star, and all time career leader in scoring and rebounding.  Following high school Chad was reared into the Christian faith under the spiritual guidance of Dr. Anna M. Brackens and later became an ordained minister under the austere leadership of Diocesan Bishop Jester Purnell.  “Pastor Chad Hunter” was quickly elevated to youth president and Christian education teacher.  He also served on the planning committee for the regional Tri-State young adult council of the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith.  At the request of Dr. Anna Brackens, Chad returned to New Albany along with his family to serve as minister, Christian Education Instructor, Youth Vice President, and Youth President at Greater Mt.Zion Church.  He also served as regional Youth Vice President of Kentucky and Tennessee.  In 2008, Chad was afforded the opportunitiy to play a vital role in the establishment of New Dimensions Outreach Ministries which has surpassed all expectations.  Chad shares his vision of life and service to all mankind and to our community with his beautiful wife Monica and three sons, Javen, Jacob, and Julien, who all work tirelessly to ensure that the vision comes to pass.

Greg Henderzahs
Greg and his wife Patty have been residents of New Albany for 43 years.  He currently serves on the Horseshoe Foundation Grants Committee of Floyd County, Indiana.  He is active in his church at Our lady of Perpetual Help.  Greg was employed with American Commercial Barge Lines for 39 years.  He held management positions in logistics, barge allocations, sales and most recently, director of customer service where he was responsible for their liquid and dry cargo fleets. Greg has been involved as a volunteer for Camp Quality since 1996.  Since retirement from ACBL, he worked part time for Camp Quality as the executive director and development coordinator.  He now works part time as the Executive Director for the Center for Lay Ministries for Clark County.  He attended Indiana University Southeast and Sullivan Business College.

Jessica Campbell
Jessica works for the City of New Albany in the Redevelopment Office.  She has a background in teaching elementary school, which made becoming a Parks Board member a good fit because she cares about the children and families in New Albany.  She looks forward to the Parks Board and Parks Department working together to regain the beauty of all the City Parks so all residents of the community can enjoy them in their daily lives.
